DTMF tones during a call

Postby silicon on Mon Apr 28, 2008 10:57 am

Hello I am using AGEphone Mobile 2 and trying to use it to operate my voicemail. Should the dialpad DTMF tones work during a call?

Thanks.

Yes, they should, but several factors can get into the way of transmitting the DTMF tones properly. If it doesn't work out for you, please go into the server options and change "Inband DTMF" to "Inbound + RFC 2833". If it still doesn't work your provider might get in the way - please let us know your exact usage scenario in that case so that we can look further into it.

Under "Detailed Server Settings (1/2)" then "DTMF Method" I have an option for either Outbound or + RFC 2833. I changed the method to Outbound and I am able to get DTMF tones working during a call. I did notice something that could be a bug in the Server Settings that if I add a new server with a specific DTMF method (example Outbound) I cannot change to + RFC 2833 without creating a new server. I am not sure if this is a issue with the settings not being saved or some other reason. Just thought I would let you know, no big deal for me. I am using a private PBX(Asterisk) with a Sprint Mogul(HTC Titan), I am able to use a wired headset and bluetooth headset with the AGEphone Mobile 2 with no problems. I didn't need to use the BTAudioToggle hack. I was reading a FAQ about how HTC isn't responding to your emails about the audio handling on their products and have emailed them to let them know what I think about hampering my user experience. Thanks for your help.

I'm happy to hear that it worked out for you and we will look into the behavior you have described. Thank you also for you mail to HTC! I really hope they change this "And who are you? BTW, we have a quasi monopoly on WM phones... k, thx." behavior in the future. Out of curiosity: Which BT stack are you using - MS or Broadcom?

Hi, I am not sure which Bluetooth stack I am using I am assuming its Microsoft. HTC is supposed to be collaborating on the development of Android so you would think they would be willing to help. I have the Sprint Mogul if you need help with any beta testing or whatnot let me know.

Thank you for the offer! You can never have enough volunteers ;-) I will get back at you when we have something that needs to be tested out. As for connecting without having to use the BT hack. Does your headset allow to activate the Handsfree Profile by pressing (one of) its button(s)?

Nice one - I wish my current Nokia BH-604s did support that as well! My previous Motorola HT820s used to offer that fuctionality, but I wanted a headset with better music quality. Anyway, thank you for all your feedback so far!

I am testing AGEphone 2 on HTC Diamond 2 ( TOPAZ ) and encounter the same problem: no DTMF tones sent during a call. :(
I tried in "Paramètres serveur détaillés (1/2)" -> "Méthode DTMF" -> "Entrant" or "RFC 2833" without any success !!!!!!
During call keyboard of AGEphone 2 emits no sound when pressing on a number key !!! I'm using sip.ovh.net. All is OK during conversation with solmebody, but no matter to obtain the good redirection when calling a "vocal server" which needs DTMF tones in response of his inquiries. Do you have anay idea to solve this problem ??? :?:

If both methods do not work it might be a sign for a problem on the server side. Please test with another (desktop) softphone and see if the DTMF tones work. Either way, please let me know here or under support // ageet // com (you know what to make of this) and we'll see what to do then.
