It changes System Volume Level directly?

Postby yasoo7964 on Fri Aug 29, 2008 8:56 am

It changes System Volume Level directly? so when listenning musics with AGEphone mobile2 idling(waiting for calls) suddenly the volume level changes.

Yes, AGEphone Mobile does exactly that. We never implemented an algorithm to separate system and softphone volume as this can degrade sound quality. But seeing that many audio players do so without any noticeable impact I will suggest this again to our programmers.

Right now this feature is a bit farther down our roadmap and it will be a while before you see it implemented. That said, our programmers were positive about it as it really would be of benefit to have system and program volume separated.

Wait,wait please.

The point is not wther it has a separated soft volume or not, i think.
Althou it has no separated soft voluming system, its no problem if it doesn't change the system volume without my operation.
I have no idea when agephone changes it, but i find that the system volume is changed while i have done nothing.
Make a second thought please.

Yasoo, if Agephone acts the same way on my Samsung SGH-i600, as it does on your phone, then this is the explanation about the volume changing:

The volume level control in the Agephone overrides the volume control on the phone itself. So, as I want the ringer to be loud when there are incoming VoIP calls, I have set the volume level control in the Agephone to the maximum. When I actually answer the call the Agephone volume drops to a much lower level during the call, which is quite OK for normal speaking and hearing.

Consequently, if I set the phone's volume to the maximum, and the Agephone's volume level is set to low, within a short time the phone's ringer volume will be low also, because the Agephone volume control overrides it.

Thank you Alex.
Setup agephone volume high, and system volume low,
Is it only when recieve a call that your phone shouts loud?
in the ame settings, my Sharp-Emone shouts loud everytime, listening musics, watching youtube, playing slideshow.. In other words, my volume is always hijacked.
Only me?

I have forgot to write that
even if i set the agephone volume maximum high, it low downs as i start talking, too. Loud ringer, and moderate talking , its pretty good. but...but loud music.

I'm glad to hear that you like the the two case volume feature - AGEphone Mobile 2 will always remember the last state for the two settings and so if your volume setting has changed it is likely due to this fact. You are right that the volume should be system independent and we will definitely integrate it in such a way in a future release. Just as in my previous post I can't give an exact date when that is going to happen, but the chances are much better now than last year and I hope that we see this implemented rather sooner than later! Imagine having a two case volume control that does not change your system volume :)

OKOK. i can imagine you are very busy.
so, Could'nt you please make it i can choose one-case volume feature or two-case vaolume feature? it's relatively easy isn't it?'
One-case volume feature will be helpful till the separated volume system comes up though.

It's always a thin red line between providing enough configuration options and overdoing it and we are usually not breaking anything over the knee when it comes to putting yet more switches into the settings. That said, your suggestion doesn't sound unreasonable to me and I will discuss it with our developers. I'll let you know what they said -
