Hello!

This program looks really promising but I've unfortunately not been able to use it neither with WiFi nor with UMTS yet.
My voip provider is poivY (of the betamax family) and I'm actually mainly interested in using it with UMTS.

The same account works well with my pc, so I'm guessing some of my network settings should be wrong.

I get a message about NAT being port restricted but according to what I've read here this shouldn't be a problem.

Anyway, I've copied my log file below so you can maybe get a better idea and I am at your disposal for answering any other question that might clarify what the problem is. Hope you can help me and thanks in advance.

Hi alexisco10 and welcome to the forums! Your VoIP provider settings seem fine, but your log shows an unknown NAT which can have two reasons:

a) The network interface is not selected properly. Normally AGEphone Mobile does a good job finding your connection automatically but in some cases the detection fails. Please go to the network setting (page 2) and select the according 3G or WiFi interface manually.

b) Your mobile network provider might be blocking VoIP traffic. Please let me know which provider you use if a) fails and I will look into it.

I guess that a) will resolve the issue as your LocalHostAddress also looks a bit strange. Let me know how it went :)

Hello Michael and thanks for the reply!

I've tried to follow your advice, so I've manually input the settings for my wifi connection (to be honest I have no idea how to find my Local and Global IP for my 3g network), but the problem persists.

As for my 3g network provider, it's Cosmote (Greece) which I'm absolutely sure is not blocking VOIP ports as I've been able to use VOIP with them through Fring and also on my laptop.

Do you maybe have any more suggestions?

No problem, that's what I am here for :) Actually, being able to use Fring is no guarantee that your provider does not block SIP VoIP traffic. They are using a proprietary protocol to route your calls from the Fring client to their servers where they process and send it out to the other side. The advantage of this approach is that it works even when SIP is blocked. The disadvantage is delay (their server may be far from your location) and processing overhead (typical bottleneck solution). That said, I don't think that your provider is blocking VoIP and the problem lies elsewhere. If you take a look at the log you will see the line

02/21/2009 20:01:41 Socket Open Error

which means that AGEphone Mobile somehow fails to open the network connection on your phone. Please try setting the SIP and RTP ports manually. For the former the standard 5060 is just fine. For the latter please try 8004 for the first and 8049 for the last port. As for the interface, unless your 3G connection is up and running you will see only cryptic hexadecimal numbers. I hope this helps you to finally figure it out. If not, please also send me your extended log (there's a howto on top of this forum section) to michael // ageet / com.
