other side can't hear me after random amount of time

Postby sun on Sat Oct 18, 2008 8:21 pm

hello,
this has been a problem right after installation and activation. after some random amount of time, between 2 and 6 minutes, the other side cannot hear me any more, although the connection is still active and a can hear the other side clearly. if i then press "hold", he can hear the melody, but nothing from the microphone. sometimes when I open and close the program several times (background-front-background), sound comes back for a while, and the quits again.
this is on windows mobile 6, HTC touch. agephone mobile 2.7
i did lots of tests to sort out the problem. disabled auto-shutoff. no overclocking. no other programs running in background. tried different voip providers. stun server. no stun server. several values for the "session timeout" option.
please help. is there anything in the settings i can try out? options are not documented, so I didn't know where to start.
thanks
sun

Hello sun and welcome to our forums! For starters, please let me know what kind of NAT AGEphone Mobile reports right after the program starts and if "STUN / UPnP" is selected. Also, if possible please test whether or not the same behavior occurs on other networks. I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

thanks for your reply! here is some more info:
- network/NAT: I tested in two different environments. one is "port restricted NAT" and works with STUN / UPnP. the other one i have no access right now, but i have to switch to "Local IP" to make it work
- buffers: I tried to increase the audio recording buffer by one notch, and really that seemed to help for a while (but the timelag was really bad). but then again yesterday the error reappeared, after 3-10 minutes in every call.
- i tried to increase packet size to 30, which seemed to help, but really didn't.
- Providers: I tried two different providers, intervoip and voipstunt. they are both betamax resellers, so this could be a point. BUT: using other access points (callback) of the same providers worked perfectly and always.

i will try a different and rocksolid provider now for testing.

I am using several Betamax providers myself (calling back home from Japan) and didn't experience any problems in the latest AGEphone versions so far, but I'll give it a long 20 - 30 minutes test soon to see if I can reproduce this behavior somehow. Something else to test in the meantime might be the "Session Expires" setting on page 3 of the provider options. Please try setting it to 180s and see if the problem persists.
