All your help is appreciated and now that several large OEM projects have come to an end I will talk the problem through with our programmers once more. If possible, could you send me the recordings of one or two sample calls so that we can hear what quality exactly you are experiencing? Please send the files to michael // ageet // com and I will forward them to the right people.

I could get my hands on the HTC Touch Diamond and Pro recently and tested them with two different VoIP providers over WiFi and 3G. The voice quality was satisfactory in all the tests and I couldn't reproduce any of the audio quality problems described in this thread. Any problems you experience are not device specific and have other reasons. To mention one in particular: If you use voxalot, please make sure to disable the server side NAT traversal option as I have found it to decrease the call quality significantly. Also, raising the audio buffers by a notch or two definitely helps mending the problems. I am using 120 - 180 for the playback and 120 ms for the recording buffer.

Other than that I can confirm the following problems:

1. AGEphone Mobile does not wake up correctly when a call is received in standby mode. Neither the screen nor the speaker gets activated and thus it is impossible to notice the call. We are working on this and I am looking forward to see this error fixed soon.

2. AGEphone Mobile looses its registration to the SIP server when in standby mode. This always happens after the period set under "Register Expires" runs out. While the softphone re-registers correctly when the phone is active it fails to do so when in standby mode. We are currently looking into this and I hope that our programmers can find a fix.
