Help with New SIP Server Settings

Hi
Been looking for a mobile SIP device for some time for my HTC Touch HD, and after trying a few I am extremely pleased with the interface of the AGEphone - well done! 8)

However, my SIP provider is not listed in the default list and I am having difficulty in configuring it as some of the required settings are confusing and wonder if you can help:

SIP Domian: touch.hostedipt.co.uk
Proxy: cs2k.hostedipt.co.uk
Username: 020300*****
Pass word: *****

Is there an 'idiots guide' to explain what is required for each field; ie: what is 'Realm'? or Registrar?

Hope you can help

NB: we are in the process of creating part of our business in hosted telephony and getting this working could 'open the dood' to quite a number of mobile SIP clients for you

Look forward to your reply

Hello Chromedome and welcome to the forums! No "idiots guide" needed as sometimes the setup for VoIP servers is not that obvious unfortunately. I am pretty sure that we will get yours to run as AGEphone Mobile 2 gets along with nearly any SIP standard compliant server around the globe! And that is exactly why "Realm" and "Registrar" are there: Some SIP providers like to make their settings as complicated as possible and use not only "Domain" and "Server" (which all SIP clients support) but other values as well to make it more difficult to connect to their service with 3rd party clients. Often, both values will be the same as "Domain" and "Server" respectively which may also be the case for you: Please try setting

SIP Domain: touch.hostedipt.co.uk
Realm: touch.hostedipt.co.uk
SIP Server: cs2k.hostedipt.co.uk
Registrar: cs2k.hostedipt.co.uk

User Name: 020300*****
Authorization: 020300*****
Display Name: 020300*****
Password: *****

Let me know if that worked for you and if not, please let me see your simple and advanced log as described here.

Thanks for this Michael
I just 'crashed n burned' my mobile to shed any legacy stuff.

I will try things again a little later and let you know how I get on.

Thank you for your prompt response

Hi Michael
Managed to get it working by leaving thc 'kegistrar' field blank.
However the audio is clipped in both directions. Is there anything obvious that I can tweak?

Look forward to your reply

I'm glad you got it working this far and also saw your reply in the other thread -- if this is not a device related problem, please try raising the audio buffers a notch or two and see if the problem persists. If it does, could you please send me a sample record or two of the quality that you are experiencing?
